DLR MovingLab is winning solution of IÖB challenge

- For data collection in Österreich Unterwegs – ÖU (Austria On the move) the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI) is looking for a digital solution.
- A challenge published on the IÖB innovation platform sought answers to the question of how the most important mobility data of people living in Austria can be collected efficiently.
- The DLR MovingLab was selected as one of the winning solutions and will be presented in the associated innovation dialogue.
In Austria, too, there are questions about mobility that need to be answered. This requires mobility data that reflects social developments and demands on transport systems. The Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI) wants to significantly reduce the effort involved in collecting this data and make it more easily accessible, without neglecting data protection and data integrity.
In 2025, the IÖB Service Centre and the BMIMI launched the challenge Mobility data collection – low-threshold, safe and resource-efficient, in which ten companies and institutions competed to present their solutions.
The DLR MovingLab was selected as a winning solution in the challenge and will be evaluated further during the innovation dialogue. The winning solutions will be presented at the associated innovation dialogue hosted by the challenge sponsor.
Our app and GPS logger for the scientific collection of mobility data meet high standards in terms of data protection and application. The DLR MovingLab app is customisable and compatible with all common smartphones. Participants in a data collection can easily operate it and have full control over their data.
