AIFER research project has ended successfully

The German-Austrian joint project AIFER (Artificial Intelligence for Emergency Response) is coming to an end. For the last time, all partners from Germany and Austria as well as the funding agencies met at DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen on October 12-13, 2023 to present and finally discuss the project results.

AIFER developed machine learning methods to automatically extract and intelligently fuse information from satellite, aerial imagery, drone data, and geo-social media. Legal, sociological and ethical aspects were examined as well as user requirements and scientific-technical testing and possible implementation. The aim of the project was to contribute to a holistic and dynamically updated situation picture and thus to targeted decision support for authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS).

As part of the research project, the methods and technologies developed were tested under realistic conditions in several exercises in Schweinfurt, in the Ahr Valley and in Salzburg to determine their practical suitability and added value during operations.
