The DRIVER+ project has been awarded the EU Security Innovation Award for the best open source innovation. This EU-funded research project (2017–2020), involving more than 41 project partners and a budget exceeding €40 million, served as a flagship initiative in the field of testing and validating innovative and practical crisis management solutions.

As one of the largest project partners, DLR made significant contributions in both its coordinating role and the development of the “Trial” framework, as well as through its own applications for civil protection and disaster response.

The ZKI tested and validated 3D data acquisition, analysis, and user-oriented situation mapping in various “Trials.” Additionally, ZKI led the “Trial” in The Hague with over 140 participants, was actively involved in other “Trials,” and contributed intensively to the development of a Trial framework and handbook.
