Satellite-based crisis and situation service

SKD

The Satellite Based Crisis and Situation Service (SKD) is a service of the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) for the provision of crisis information and other spatial information to support the federal administration.

The SKD produces situational geoinformation and remote sensing analyses, in particular for federal institutions. It has grown out of the DLR-ZKI-DE service. The SKD combines satellite data, official geoinformation and additional specialist data, creating a comprehensive and individual knowledge base for decision-making.

The SKD offers various products to support crisis management:

  • Map and situation service
  • Remote sensing service
