Department Control of Aeroelastic Systems

The Control of Aeroelastic Systems department is concerned with the design of control functions for the reduction of structural loads, aeroservoelastic stabilization and the improvement of passenger comfort.

Important research topics are the control-oriented modeling of overall aircraft dynamics and loads, efficient design methods, novel control functions, their influence on the overall aircraft design, as well as the safe integration of the control functions into the aircraft flight control system.

The department combines skills in the fields of flight physics, systems and control engineering and masters the entire process chain from requirements definition, modeling, controller design and verification to implementation and testing in the wind tunnel or flight test.

The work is carried out in close cooperation with neighboring departments as well as with partners inside and outside DLR.
