Prepilot ZiRa

In the project "Prepilot ZiRa", the department for high-temperature heat pumps of the Institute of Low-Carbon Industrial Processes is investigating the special features of water vapor compression, which is a central element in the design of a high-temperature heat pump. For this purpose, a compressor test rig was developed, the main component of which is a compact compressor designed aerodynamically and in terms of structural dynamics at the institute. The geometries were designed in such a way that a metrological recording of scientifically relevant values can be achieved. The developed process steps for design optimization are to be validated with the measured values.

In addition, the project deals with the design of the infrastructure around the actual compressor unit. Here, the handling of condensate plays a central role. Special start-up procedures, condensate drainage, and sealing concepts in the system and on the compressor, itself are mentioned as essential points.
