Third RESA Workshop
A workshop of the Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) took place in Neustrelitz on 23.03/24.03.2011. More than 70 scientists from universities, research centers, Member of the Helmhotz-Association and enterprises discussed diverse scientific possibilities of data application and aspects of the evaluation of data of the German satellite system RapidEye in the Orangerie Neustrelitz. For the scientific support of the users the project RapidEye Science archives (RESA) was initiated.
The German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) was contracted to perform the project management of the RESA project which includes also the storage of RapidEye-data. The number of projects supported till now amounts to 61. At least 30 of these projects deal with aspects of monitoring of environmental resources in selected ecologically sensitive test sites of Europe, Africa, America, and Asia. The easier access to remote sensing data for scientific data use of remote sensing data is also supported by a scientific data pool of TerraSAR-X data. The combined analysis of both data sources was also integral part of the workshop. The DLR considers the project RESA as a concrete support of the national efforts in the context of the European environmental initiative GMES at which the colleagues from Neustrelitz want to participate actively with their receive antennas and data processing systems in future, too.
