New Book on Thermal Infrared Remote Sensing
The book "Thermal Infrared Remote Sensing: Sensors, Methods, Applications" provides a comprehensive overview of thermal infrared remote sensing. It is edited by DFD scientists Dr Claudia Künzer and Professor Dr Stefan Dech. Internationally renowned experts provided contributions on existing sensors and innovative plans for future missions. Further chapters deal with physics and image processing techniques for analysing themal data. Finally, a large selection of case studies provides an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of land and sea surface temperatures, the urban heat island effect, forest fires, precursors of volcanic eruptions, underground coal fires, geothermal systems, soil moisture variability and the differentiation of minerals based on their thermal signature.
