AI4SmartCities

The goal of the Artificial Intelligence for Smart Cities project is to use artificial intelligence methods to derive high-quality key information about the built environment. For this purpose, comprehensive and complex data sets (earth observation, Google Services, official geodata, mobile communications, social media) are evaluated using state-of-the-art approaches of intelligent data analysis and provided in the form of high-value indicators. The new data is intended to support planners as well as political and institutional decision-makers in the implementation of sustainable cities - for example, to reduce the carbon footprint or to avoid the emergence of heat islands. The AI4Smart Cities project is working with Google LLC and the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM) to derive novel information and indicators at the global and local level to support sustainable urban development.
