DELIGHT

With the help of the DELIGHT environmental information system, quantitative parameters for China’s Yellow River delta can be visualised and analysed to facilitate decision making related to the delta’s land use programme. It provides access to data on coastal erosion and land reclamation, the expansion of aquaculture, changes in agricultural acreage, urbanisation processes, locations of point and area sources of water pollution, as well as key indicators of offshore current conditions and seawater sediment and algal loads. The system was developed by the German-Chinese DELIGHT consortium, which was coordinated and led by DFD. Based on local analyses of requirements, it has been transferred to the Dongying administrative district.

Project DELIGHT
The Yellow River Delta faces numerous challenges. The effects of industrial activity, urbanization, agriculture, and climate change can be observed and experienced in the delta.
