HiCLIM

HiCLIM
DFD helps monitor climate and economically relevant changes to the earth's surface at a very high spatial and temporal resolution. A key objective is the development of methods and algorithms for monitoring measurable targets for climate adaptation strategies.

The HiCLIM project " High Resolution Earth Observation for Climate Adaptation and Mitigation in Germany" focuses on the potential of high-resolution earth observation data for the derivation of information products in the context of climate mitigation. Methods of Artificial Intelligence will help to quantify the properties of the land surface to an unprecedented level of detail. Information products on the following topics will be developed as examples:

  • Influence of climate variables and land use changes on economic development
  • solar energy
  • Landscape features for erosion control, evaporation reduction and biodiversity
  • Green infrastructure within settlements
