The Hydroterra+ project, an Earth Explorer 12 proposed mission funded by the European Space Agency (ESA), focuses on studying rapid water cycle processes (hours to days) in regions vulnerable to climate change, including Europe, the Mediterranean, and parts of Africa. Leveraging synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology in quasi-geostationary orbit, it aims to provide continuous, high-resolution observations to enhance our understanding of extreme events like floods and fires.

In this “Phase 0 Science and Requirements Consolidation Study (SciReC)”, our contribution is dedicated towards the development of algorithms to measure soil moisture values from the interferometric phase, to complement and improve the backscatter-based moisture measurements.
