The building stock strongly shapes socio-economic activities, local climate, energy use, emissions, mobility, and vulnerability. However, data on the spatial patterns and characteristics of buildings at continental or global scales are limited. To address this gap, the project aims to develop a global dataset of building footprints, providing information for each building on its footprint, height, volume, and estimated year of construction.
