Ecosystem Mobility 4.0 – BuildUp
Digitalisation, data and connectivity will shape the mobility of the future to a large extent. Autonomous mobility services require new technical and organisational foundations. The Ecosystem Mobility 4.0 initiative aims to establish an open, interoperable digital ecosystem to support the development of innovative, scalable, user-centred mobility solutions. These solutions are intended not only to address urban mobility needs, but also those in suburban and rural areas.
To this end, Ecosystem Mobility 4.0 encompasses a wide range of areas, including integration architectures, fleet management, safety concepts, digital infrastructures, and AI-based process automation. These are complemented by aspects such as regulatory frameworks, business models and market development. Particular emphasis is placed on the practical feasibility of the results, which are continuously refined through pilot projects, model regions and an active community. This close interlinking of areas fosters innovation and contributes to the transformation of the mobility system through a holistic approach.
The Ecosystem Mobility 4.0 – BuildUp project aims to establish an organisational framework for the initiative, enabling its long-term implementation and supporting the integration, scaling and market development of its results. This includes establishing an association that brings together stakeholders from industry, academia, and the public sector, and which will assume a long-term coordinating and driving role on behalf of its members. The project is also preparing the association's initial operational activities.

Contribution from the Institute for AI Safety and Security
The Institute for AI Safety and Security is heavily involved in the Ecosystem Mobility 4.0 initiative. Building on its extensive experience in automated and connected mobility services, as well as the transformation of the mobility system, the Institute coordinates the Ecosystem Mobility 4.0 – BuildUp project in collaboration with the FZI Research Centre for Information Technology.
