Quantum computers and AI: what potential does this combination hold for security and performance?

Tensor networks open up new perspectives - but how can they be used practically in industry and research?

Fusing quantum computing and artificial intelligence opens up revolutionary possibilities for developing powerful and secure AI systems. Here at the DLR Institute for AI Safety and Security, our research focuses on innovative computational approaches that unlock the potential of quantum computing for AI applications.

To realise this potential in practice, our scientists are researching how to integrate and evaluate novel quantum algorithms within existing AI concepts. In addition, we are developing reliable quantum-classical hybrid AI methods for real-world applications in industry and academia.

We base this development work on our extensive expertise in tensor networks, quantum neural networks and quantum reservoir computing, which enables us to identify quantum perspectives for a wide range of requirements. We also consider how to scale up for more powerful quantum hardware, ensuring that the systems we develop meet the highest safety standards.

This holistic approach lays the groundwork for the next generation of trustworthy and powerful artificial intelligence systems capable of solving complex tasks reliably and precisely by integrating quantum-based approaches.
