Opening ceremony Quantum Year Ulm

The city of Ulm is celebrating the International Year of Quantum Technology and Science "quant.ulm.2025" together with DLR and other stakeholders. The celebrations will begin with the opening ceremony on 14 March 2025. The Institute for AI Safety and Security will be on site with the Quantum Arcade Demonstrator. Come along and compete against two different opponents - a classic AI and a Quantum AI. Anyone who would like to learn more about quantum technology is cordially invited.

Hannover Messe 2025

At this year's Hannover Messe, the DLR Institute for AI Safety and Security is presenting solutions for the next generation of mobility. Different means of transport will be connected to form a fluid system: from autonomous shuttles in rural areas to urban transport, seamless transitions and the optimisation of services will be possible in a tactile way. This is based on the Base-X project, the result of a joint initiative involving more than 80 partners, including leading companies, public sector organisations and research institutions.

Girls´ Day 2025

On Girls' Day 2025, the Institute of AI Safety and Security, together with the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics and the Institute of Quantum Technologies, will be offering an exciting insight for young research talents aged 14 and over. Schoolgirls can take a look behind the scenes at DLR and take a first step towards their future as a scientist. What are the tasks of female computer scientists and physicists at DLR in Ulm? The Arbeitskreis Industriekontakte (AKIK) and the Faculty of Engineering, Computer Science and Psychology at Ulm University are planning to organise the 25th consecutive Career Day, a company contact fair for students of electrical engineering, computer science, physics and related disciplines, on 21 November 2024. Together with 3 other DLR institutes, the Institute for AI Safety and Security will also be presenting itself here.

Company Day 2024

The Institute for AI Safety and Security will be presenting itself at the Company Day 2024 at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg together with two other institutes of the DLR. In addition to the exhibition booths in Hochschulstraße on the Sankt Augustin campus, there will be an extensive social programme for visitors, which is free of charge. At the DLR stand, students can talk to our scientists and find out exactly what research at our institute involves and what opportunities there are to become part of our team. In addition to direct entry into a career, DLR also offers internships, practical semesters, diploma theses and doctoral theses.

Meeting of the Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility project group

On 17 and 18 October 2024, the next meeting of the Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility project family will take place in Cologne-Porz, hosted by the DLR Institute for AI Safety as coordinator of the 6 projects involved. We will start on 17 October 24 with a get-together with time for discussions, personal contacts and professional exchange across project and company boundaries. On the following day, we will look back on the results of the 6 projects of the last 3 years and present their current status as well as their continuation concepts and the future planning of Base-X.

Together with the DLR Institutes of Engineering Thermodynamics and Quantum Technology, we will be presenting our research results at the Quantum Effects trade fair in Stuttgart. At the joint Quantum BW stand, we will be showcasing the latest developments in the field of quantum research, including advanced simulation technologies.

The new EU Product Liability Directive - updating or upgrading European technology law?

Conference at the LMU Munich on 11 July 2024: Product liability for innovative systems, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence, raises challenging dogmatic and practical questions, both at a general level and in relation to specific sectors. This comparative law conference, organised in cooperation with the Robotics & AI Law Society (RAILS) and the Institute for AI Safety and Security (DLR), will address this topic in the context of national and European approaches. In particular, the impact of the new EU product liability directive, which will replace Directive 85/374/EEC, will be on the agenda. Voices from academia and practice will be brought together.

IT job fair for students

The University of Heidelberg educates around 30,000 students in more than 180 degree programmes across 13 faculties. The job fair offers around 30 regional and national companies the opportunity to make personal contact with students. The focus of the fair is on personal dialogue between HR managers, subject specialists and students, doctoral candidates and alumni of Heidelberg University. Exhibiting employers will be able to present their corporate culture and career opportunities and specifically look for committed young talent. The Institute for AI Safety and Security will also be exhibiting and engaging in dialogue with students.

From April 22, the Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility project group will be showcasing innovative, connected mobility applications for the digital transformation of the transport system at Hannover Messe 2024. Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility is coordinated by the DLR Institute for AI Safety and Security. Visitors can see numerous solutions for sustainable mobility on over 70 square meters: The 6 projects present individual focal points and joint work results. The central result of the cross-project collaboration is at the heart of the exhibition: Base-X, an open digital foundation for system innovations that optimizes the shared use of data and services. Base-X is scalable, international and economical - and paves the way for networked, intelligent and sustainable mobility and logistics.

The Institute for AI Safety and Security, together with 6 other DLR institutes at the 32nd Bonding Company Contact Fair at the University of University of Stuttgart. Our colleagues will present what an aircraft designed by non-secure AI could look like, and the 3D printout of an optimisation landscape of a quantum machine learning classification task.

Knowledge Interchange Workshop on Machine Learning (WAW)

The KnowledgeInterchangeWorkshops (WAW) are a series of interdisciplinary workshops across DLR’s organisational units with the aim of long-term knowledge exchange on interdisciplinary topics and the expansion and creation of professional networks. The WAW includes keynote speakers, tutorials, lectures and a poster session, as well as group discussions and a social event. It will be held in English to allow as many DLR-employees as possible to participate in a meaningful way.
