What does it take to make autonomous transport systems and intelligent supply chains safe, efficient and climate-friendly?

Which technologies enable safe human-machine collaboration in highly automated mobility and logistics systems?

At the DLR Institute for AI Safety and Security, one of our research areas focuses on automation in mobility and logistics. Through our interdisciplinary approach, we develop safe and reliable AI systems for critical infrastructure in the transport and logistics sectors.

In the field of automated mobility, our research covers intelligent algorithms and technologies for autonomous vehicles and traffic management systems, as well as the seamless integration of different forms of mobility. Our work focuses on safety aspects and the resilience of these systems. Our scientists develop robust data processing methods and lay the groundwork for safe human-machine collaboration in highly automated transport systems.

In the context of logistics automation, our efforts are directed towards the development of secure, decentralised data infrastructures for intelligent supply chains and the movement of goods. Using privacy-enhancing technologies and advanced encryption methods ensures the secure exchange of data between various logistics industry players.

Our research results directly contribute to climate protection by enabling more efficient traffic flow and optimised logistics processes. By closely integrating basic research and application-oriented development, we are establishing the technological foundations for future mobility — safe, intelligent and sustainable.
