DPEA German Project Excellence Award 2014

The DLR Institute of Communications and Navigation qualified for the final of the coveted award, which recognizes excellence in project execution, both in terms of applied project management and project results.

With the "Alert4All" research project, the basis for a future Europe-wide population warning system was designed, implemented and successfully demonstrated as a prototype. By integrating a wide variety of communication systems, the warning system reaches those affected by a disaster situation almost everywhere - in public places or buildings, at home or on the move. The system also provides a platform for the exchange of information and effective cooperation between authorities in different countries, as well as decision-making aids for alerting. Key technical results of the project are currently being incorporated into the creation of European standards.

The finalists of the DPEA German Project Excellence Award have proven that they have carried out a project excellently, both in terms of the project management applied and the project results. Achieving finalist status was preceded by a detailed application, individual assessments by the DPEA assessors, a presentation of the project by the project managers and an on-site visit by the assessors to the teams. Finally, there were also two jury meetings in which the projects were critically assessed and discussed.
