The Institute of Communications and Navigation

Building of the Institute of Communications and Navigation at DLR Site Oberpfaffenhofen

The Institute of Communications and Navigation can now look back on a long history. Even in its early years, the Institute played a key role in space programs such as the HELIOS mission to the sun and the construction of the first European telecommunications satellite, Symphonie. Since then, it has been involved in numerous pioneering aerospace developments and projects.

We really want to fly it!
Living science at the DLR Institute of Communications and Navigation

We are a young, international team of scientists, junior staff and support personnel.
We want to shape technological development in our field and thus create scientific and social added value.
The areas of application of our work are primarily in space, aviation, transport, civil security and the digitalization of the economy and society.
