- GSOC publishes the "openvocs" software platform on GitHub
- First open source platform for communication in mission operations
- Specially developed for mission control rooms and similar environments
- WebRTC-based solution with HTML5/JavaScript frontend and scalable microservice architecture
The German Space Operations Center (GSOC) is pleased to announce the release of the open source project openvocs on GitHub.
What is openvocs?
openvocs (open-voice-communication-system) is a communication software platform for mission control that is based on modern web technologies, in particular WebRTC. It has an HTML5/JavaScript-based client that enables access via almost any current device.
Technical Details
The openvocs backend system consists of:
- a command & control service
- a WebRTC proxy
- scalable mixer microservice that enables flexible use by new users. Each additional user receives their own mix source to be immediately integrated into the conference environment.
Such systems are used, for example, in emergency control centers or space control centers - wherever many parallel communication streams need to be coordinated.
What makes openvocs special?
openvocs is the first publicly available software platform developed specifically for use in mission control rooms in the space sector. It is now available as an open source project and can be downloaded from GitHub via the link above.
