Cargo bikes in commercial use
Are cargo bikes practical transport alternatives for companies or employees of public institutions in everyday life?
The focus of the campaign is to gain information on the use of cargo bikes for commercial use. With the help of the DLR MovingLab, data on journeys made by cargo bike are collected in order to draw conclusions about the length, purpose and type of journeys. This makes it possible to estimate the potential for shifting journeys that would otherwise be made by car.
Realisation
Depending on individual transport requirements, we provide various cargo bike models, including particularly beginner-friendly versions, without high investment costs. As part of our research contract, we are providing scientific support for the project. This will enable us to make a well-founded assessment of how the cargo bike will be accepted as a commercial vehicle by businesses and public institutions. With the help of test pilots, we want to clarify the extent to which different sectors can benefit from the use of cargo bikes and the extent to which traffic and thus cities can be relieved.
Participants use the app for commercial journeys. Only cargo bikes are used. Two telephone interviews are conducted during the driving period and two questionnaires after the end of the driving period - among other things, the use of the app is also surveyed.
