Double finned tube
In the laboratory of the Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics, the latent heat storage is constructed and tested on a relevant scale for operation with steam. The double-tube finned profile allows decoupled charging and discharging of the latent heat storage. Steam or water flows through one of the central tubes and condenses or evaporates, while the PCM around the fins melts or solidifies.
