                  Research Infrastructure

At our facilities in Stuttgart, Cologne, Ulm, Oldenburg and at ZAL in Hamburg, we offer a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art facilities and technologies for researching and developing innovative solutions in the fields of energy, the environment and mobility.

                  Large scale research facilities

The construction and operation of large-scale research facilities is a statutory task of the German Aerospace Centre (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR). They enable us to carry out our research in the aerospace, energy, transport, security and digitalisation programmes. The research infrastructure is used across institutes and programmes. In addition, we make our facilities and expertise available to national and international partners from research and industry.

                  Pilot plants and test facilities

At the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics, we have numerous test facilities for fuel cells, electrolysis, batteries and heat storage, which we constantly keep up to date.

                  Modelling tools

We are using tools developed in-house at the Institute for systemic modelling. Some of these tools are introduced here.
