                Locations & arrival

The Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics is based at a total of 5 locations. To make it easy for you to find us, you can find detailed addresses and directions to each of our locations here.

                Hamburg

At the ZAL Tech Centre in Hamburg, we are researching fuel cell driven concepts for aviation.

                Cologne

At DLR's main site in Cologne-Porz, we operate the large-scale research facility "TESIS - Test Facility for Heat Storage in Molten Salt" and are part of the DLR Competence Centre for Ceramic Materials and Thermal Storage Technologies CeraStorE®.

                Oldenburg

At the Oldenburg site, we are investigating high-temperature polymer fuel cells and developing innovative alkaline membranes for fuel cell technology.

                Stuttgart

At our Stuttgart site we are working intensively on fuel cells, electrolysers, heat storage and combined heat and power plants.

                Ulm

As an associated partner and founding member of the Helmholtz Institute Ulm, based in Ulm, we are researching more powerful lithium-ion batteries, post-lithium batteries and solid-electrolyte batteries. DLR researchers use high-performance computers and quantum computers to model and simulate electrochemical processes in battery cells in order to increase their performance, storage capacity and lifetime.
