Thermochemical technology for waste heat recovery

TechUPGRADE

TechUPGRADE is an initiative that aims to develop a ground-breaking, advanced thermochemical technology for waste heat recovery. Our solution efficiently recovers waste heat from industrial processes and raises it to temperatures of 150 - 250 degrees Celsius.

The TechUPGRADE-solution

TechUPGRADE can be combined with all renewable technologies, including solar thermal systems. It consumes almost no electricity and has a significantly high energy and exergy efficiency.

Due to the expected long service life and the simplicity of the design, TechUPGRADE can be significantly more cost-effective than competing technologies. The operating mechanism and the way in which low-value heat sources are integrated also play a decisive role.

TechUPGRADE can be used for a variety of integration options, low temperature heat sources and different heat sink temperature levels.

In addition, TechUPGRADE can provide storage of recovered waste heat or renewable heat through simple customisation if there is a mismatch between the availability of the heat source and the process heat demand.

Innovative Project Consortium

The project consortium consists of 14 partners - including 5 universities, 3 research centres, 4 SMEs, one large company and one partner with several industrial end users.

This ensures that all the expertise required for successful project implementation and future realisation is available and that the partners complement each other optimally.

The technology will be demonstrated in different designs and integrations in two relevant environments in Sweden and Germany with 35 kW and 10 kW high temperature heat output capacities.
