Infrastructure

The test environment is controlled and monitored via an office container with four workstations and a workshop area. All test fields are located in laboratory containers and are equipped with cameras, microphones and intercom systems. The components and measuring equipment are connected to the office container so that the entire test environment can be controlled centrally.

A key requirement for the infrastructure of the test environment is thermal management, which must provide the various heating and cooling requirements at different temperature levels. On the fuel cell side, for example, up to 1.8 MW of thermal power must be cooled at a temperature level of approx. 80 °C and, on the other hand, the thermal energy for vaporising and heating the -253 °C cold, liquid hydrogen to at least 0 °C warm, gaseous hydrogen must be made available. A total cooling capacity of up to 3 MW can be provided.
