DRK workshop in Berlin

Intensive exchange between DRK, HeiGIT and DLR at the various thematic stations in the World Café
The German Red Cross (DRK), in cooperation with the Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology gGmbH (HeiGIT) and DLR/ZKI, organised a two-day workshop from 27-28 February 2023 in Berlin. Colleagues from the Institute for Data Science at DLR in Jena also joint the meeting. During the workshop, the possibilities of Earth Observation, web data analysis and geoinformation to support GRC tasks were presented and intensively discussed with various representatives of the DRC. In order to make the research topics of DLR and HeiGIT as directly imaginable as possible, three concrete use cases and analysis options for Earth Observation, web data and geoinformation were presented at the beginning of the presentation, using Mozambique, Somalia and Ukraine as examples. Afterwards, specific topics could be discussed intensively in small groups at various thematic stations of a World Café. The workshop covered a range of DRC work topics, including Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Anticipation, Health, Urban Context, Surge, Strengthening National Societies and Capacity Building. Overall, many ideas and common topics were developed. The workshop thus represents a further step in the development of joint projects.
