Federal Agencies Visit EOC

On 15 February 2017 representatives of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany and the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy were informed at EOC about the potential of earth observation and current developments.

In several specialist presentations the fully automated, wide area and continuous analysis of satellite data was demonstrated, for example to derive information about land use, extract buildings, or assist disaster aid activities. The National Copernicus Data Platform (CODE-DE) also captured the interest of the representatives. CODE-DE will soon be providing government offices, research institutions, companies and the general public in Germany with easy and rapid access to data from the Sentinel satellites and to core Copernicus services.

The visit was initiated by ZKI-DE. This EOC service is based on a framework agreement between DLR and the Federal Ministry of the Interior. It makes it possible for federal authorities to obtain via DLR satellite data and assessments, as well as consultive and development services.
