When AI takes the wheel: safety needs strong partners
DLR Institute for AI Safety and Security participates in project to safeguard automated driving
The DLR Institute for AI Safety and Security is a partner in the new research project "Safe AI Engineering", which aims to improve the safety of automated driving. Under the joint consortium management of DXC Luxoft and DLR, a total of 24 partners are working together, including car manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers and scientific institutions.
The pre-competitive research project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and initiated by the VDA Flagship Initiative Autonomous and Connected Driving. It builds on the AI project family, which also includes the successful research projects KI Assurance, KI Delta Learning, KI Data Tooling and KI Knowledge.
The work of the Institute for AI Safety and Security is based in the AI Engineering department led by Dr Sven Hallerbach. The project aims to advance safe automated driving in Germany by developing new methods and standards. The combined expertise of the partners will lead to solutions that ensure the reliability and safety of AI systems in road traffic.
