Theoretical quantum physics Department

This department researches classical and quantum physical systems to develop new and optimise existing applications of quantum technologies. Together with experimental groups from physics and engineering, the department paves the way from the idea through experimental tests to industrial prototypes. Key research areas include the theoretical analysis of matter wave interferometry for precise navigation and earth observation, sensors for electromagnetic fields, fundamental concepts of physics, entangled light and matter waves for secure communication and improved imaging.
