On November 26, 2014 at the Munich residence of Minister-President Seehofer, Gerd Hirzinger was awarded the Maximilian Order, the highest Bavarian honor whose living recipients may not exceed 100 persons. The order is granted for outstanding achievements in the field of science and art.
