CAESAR arm on display at the Deutsches Museum Nuremberg

Since December, the Deutsches Museum Nuremberg has been exhibiting a model of the RM arm CAESAR in the newly designed exhibition area of the Museum of the Future. Under the motto "new futures, features & visions", two of the five themed areas of the permanent exhibition have been redesigned. Many exciting highlights and new exhibits await visitors in the "Space and Time" exhibition area: "We are on the threshold of a new chapter in space travel. Space is to be increasingly developed as an economic zone. Commercial space stations, satellite constellations and production in space are just a few of the buzzwords. But at the same time, every additional satellite in space jeopardizes the safe use of orbit. Who is actually allowed to do what? And what happens to all the space debris? These questions will be explored under the heading "What's new in orbit", according to the Deutsches Museum. The Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics is supporting the Deutsches Museum with a model of the CAESAR arm on loan.

To mark the opening, RM employee Gerhard Grunwald took part as an expert in space robotics in the discussion format "Zukunftsplausch" of the Deutsches Museum in Nuremberg. The topics of discussion at the evening event on December 5, 2023 were the potential risks of space debris and new ways to contain it. "Space debris - Is the future of space travel under threat?" was the title of the free discussion event. It is possible to watch the future talk online via youtube video.
