Best Practice: EO4CAM at the 4th NEREUS Symposium

NEREUS, a network of European regions using space technologies, held its fourth European Symposium on October 2–3, 2025. The event, attended by around 70 participants, took place in Ponta Delgada, Azores. NEREUS connects regional and local authorities with companies, start-ups, research institutions, and universities to discuss how space-based solutions can help address current challenges – from climate change and natural hazards to extreme events, defense, and security.

This is where EO4CAM comes in. The project was presented as a best-practice example for the Bavarian region in the panel “Civil Protection and Climate Change.” The subsequent discussion once again highlighted what makes EO4CAM unique: local and regional authorities and decision-makers in Bavaria have been involved from the very beginning. This approach ensures that the information, products, and scenarios generated using Earth observation data truly meet user needs.

The first EO4CAM results will be published in 2026 on the EO4CAM data portal.
