Augsburg
Augsburg, together with Munich, Würzburg, and Bad Kissingen, constitutes one of several pilot regions of varying scales, selected to investigate climate change adaptation across diverse urban typologies and settlement structures.
In line with the overarching objectives of the EO4CAM initiative, the Augsburg pilot region aims to establish a scientifically sound data basis to inform and support climate-resilient urban development strategies. High-resolution aerial and satellite imagery is utilized to map the urban tree population at the level of individual trees, enabling precise temporal monitoring of vegetation dynamics. Furthermore, spatial analyses are conducted to identify urban heat islands, quantify existing cooling capacities, and simulate the potential effects of proposed urban development or greening interventions under changing climatic conditions.
