EO4CAM expert dialogue on agriculture: exchange on current work and outlook for 2026

On 15 December 2025, the EO4CAM expert dialogue on agriculture took place as an online event. The aim of the expert dialogue was to inform participants about the current status of the work, present key findings and jointly discuss the next steps for 2026. The target audience for the expert dialogue were representatives of Bavarian authorities and other institutions interested in the EO4CAM work in the field of agriculture and the use of the resulting data.
The expert dialogue focused on ongoing and planned work in the areas of grassland (diversity, use, yields), arable land (crop rotations, soil cover, yields), relief and soil water balance, and woody plants in open land. For all topics, the current status of work, already available data and planned further developments were presented.
Furthermore, the next technical and methodological steps with regard to the work in 2026 were explained.
In addition, participants were given a brief insight into the future EO4CAM data portal, which is scheduled to go live in spring 2026. The data portal is intended to facilitate access to EO4CAM products and support their use in administration and practice.
The expert dialogue also provided an opportunity for discussion and questions. An accompanying online survey was also conducted. The feedback provides valuable information for the further technical orientation and prioritisation of work in the coming project phases.
More than 20 participants took part in the event, including representatives from the Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture (LfL), the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU), the State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (StMELF), the Offices for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, the Offices for Rural Development, the Government of Lower Bavaria and, from the practical side, Agrokraft GmbH.
