Reflectometry
Reflectometric methods use reflected GNSS or radio signals to determine the properties of the Earth’s surface and atmosphere. The effects of the ionosphere (below satellite-based reflectometry receivers) play an important role in this process.
The institute is investigating the potential of satellite-based reflectometry to improve monitoring of the ionosphere over oceans and remote areas not covered by the global network of ground stations. As part of this work, new analysis algorithms and measurement concepts are being developed and validated.
