Christmas Lecture 2024 in Stuttgart
Heating for the climate?
This year's DLR Christmas Lecture, held on 10 December 2024 at Café Faust in Stuttgart, was dedicated to a highly topical research subject: CO2-free heating with lime. Dr Marc Linder from the DLR Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics shed light on the exciting question of whether CO2-negative heating systems could even be feasible in the future.
In his presentation, Dr Linder showed how lime is not only an emission-free alternative to conventional heating methods, but could also help to offset the CO2 emissions from your last holiday trip, for example.
The Christmas Lecture follows a tradition based on Michael Faraday's famous Christmas Lectures at the Royal Institution. Each year, DLR presents a forward-looking topic from the field of research.
If you missed this year's event, you can watch the recording. Discover innovative approaches for a sustainable heat supply and find out how science and technology can pave the way to a CO2-neutral - or even CO2-negative - future.
