Research

The objectives of the energy research programmes of the Federal Republic of Germany are implemented by the joint projects of AG Turbo. The close co-operation between partners from industry and research ensures the efficient use of technical and financial resources, generates synergies between power plant and engine technologies, avoids duplicate developments and significantly supports the national and international economic strength of the German turbomachinery industry.

Joint project DiWaTurb

Focused on the power and heat transition, hydrogen infrastructure, and power generation in gas turbines, DiWaTurb designs innovative turbomachinery components for an efficient, flexible, and climate-neutral energy system.

Joint project FokusTurbo

FokusTurbo develops high-performance, efficient, and reliable turbomachines for a climate-neutral and resilient energy system. The project focuses on flexible solutions for power and heat generation, energy storage, and heat pumps, as well as on adapting existing technologies to hydrogen and synthetic fuels.

Joint project TurboTrans

The transformation of the energy supply is of central importance on the path to a climate-neutral and decarbonised economy. In the current scenarios, electricity continues to gain in importance as an energy source, also due to additional areas of application such as mobility and heat supply.

Joint project TurboHyTec

Turbomachinery for hydrogen technologies: Turbomachinery is a key element in numerous energy storage applications and industrial processes and is also used in processes for the production of synthetic green fuels. This applies in particular to process compressors and expanders for the corresponding cycle processes.

Joint project DigiTecT

The joint project Digitalisation and interdisciplinary design technologies of turbomachinery for the energy transition (DigiTecT) is investigating technological issues that focus on the changed requirements profile of turbomachinery in the energy transition.

Joint project TurboGrün

The joint project Turbomachinery for energy storage and green fuels takes up work that reflects the changed requirements profile for turbomachinery in the energy transition.

Joint project InnoTurbinE

The aim of the joint project Innovative turbomachinery for sustainable energy systems is to use primary energy particularly efficiently and thus conserve resources in the long term while drastically minimising CO2 emissions. For the power plant sector, this means operating highly efficient plants and closing the coupling with renewable energies. Future gas turbines must be able to utilise hydrogen-enriched fuels.

Joint project ECOFlex-turbo

The future energy supply system in Germany will differ significantly from today's system. The technological challenge will be to provide the residual load between renewable generation and consumption by fossil-fuelled power plants at the highest technical level and at the right time.
