Members of the programme management
Dr Dirk Hilberg from Rolls-Royce Germany (1st person from left) has retired. His successor, Dr Jens Ortmanns, has taken over his duties as programme manager. Prof. Volker Gümmer from the Technical University of Munich (3rd person from right) has also left the programme management. Prof Francesca di Mare has therefore taken over as deputy chair. Prof. Markus Schatz from Helmut Schmidt University was elected as the new university representative in the programme management.

The AG Turbo programme management represents the AG Turbo working group, prepares funding options for turbomachinery technology and coordinates contributions on energy science issues. The programme management is made up of industrial partners from the fields of turbomachinery and energy systems as well as representatives from universities and research institutes. It is supported by the DLR Scientific Coordination Centre.

Our tasks

  • Initiation of joint projects as part of the energy research programme and coordination with Project Management Jülich and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK)
  • Coordination of the process for introducing individual R&D topics and structuring thematic alliances into joint projects
  • Coordination of the submission of outlines and coordination of applications for joint projects
  • Scheduling of the AG Turbo status seminars every two years and selection of the main topics from the AG Turbo working groups as well as external speakers
  • Scheduling of the working group meetings
  • Development of cross-company and cross-institute technical documents on the role of the turbomachine in the energy transition

The AG Turbo Programme Management has a central role in the preparation, planning and implementation of corresponding joint projects within the framework of the energy research programme. The aim is to bring together and bundle the specialist expertise with corresponding scientific and technological excellence in the field of turbomachinery in research and industry in Germany in order to avoid duplication of work and utilise the available research funds and resources as efficiently as possible.
