                    Aeroacoustic Test Facilities

The Engine Acoustics Department operates several test facilities, each of which is used to analyse individual components and the interaction of several elements. The relevant sound sources of classic and future engines, as well as passive and active sound-absorbing measures, can be analysed on various test benches.

                    Test Facility CRAFT

The aeroacoustics of new fan concepts can be tested and analysed in detail at the prototype stage using the CRAFT test facility.

                    Duct acoustic test rig DUCT

The flow acoustics channel is used for acoustic investigations and for assessing sound-absorbing structures. It is very flexible in terms of the shape and size of the objects under investigation and is also accessible for optical measurement techniques.

                    Hot Acoustic Test Rig HAT

In collaboration with TU Berlin, we operate the hot acoustic test bench. Here, we study the performance of sound-absorbing structures across a range of parameters, including temperature, pressure, and flow velocity.
