Project Management Organisation for Aeronautics Research celebrates its 30th anniversary
The Project Management Agency for Aeronautics Research celebrated its 30th anniversary on 13 November in Berlin. Around 150 high-ranking representatives from business, politics and science were invited to the anniversary event.
30 years of aeronautics research - but what does this mean for German commercial enterprises, but also for science? What impact has the federal aviation research programme had on the research and development of new technologies in the aviation industry and how have these new technologies already been used? These questions were discussed and presented to the audience in numerous specialist presentations as part of the afternoon programme. On stage were representatives of the largest companies in the aviation sector and SMEs, as well as Prof. Dr Mirko Hornung, representing the German aviation universities, Prof. Dr Bernd Mayer, Institute Director at Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE and Dr Markus Fischer, Member of the DLR Executive Board for Aeronautics.
In the first round of talks in the evening, Dr Anna Christmann, Federal Government Coordinator for Aerospace, Prof Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, Chairwoman of the DLR Executive Board, and Dr Sabine Klauke, Vice President for Aeronautics at the BDLI and Chief Technology Officer at Airbus, answered questions on the future of aeronautics research, particularly with regard to future climate-neutral aviation, and gave a review of the past 30 years of the aeronautics research programme from their perspective.
During the second round of talks of the evening, representatives from the management level of Airbus Helicopters, Rolls-Royce Deutschland, MTU Aero Engines, Heggemann, Liebherr Aerospace and the BDLI spoke about the influence of the aviation research programme.
