Hydrogen is increasingly being used as an alternative energy source to fossil fuels. The need for international standards in relation to transportation and transfer technologies for cryogenic hydrogen for mobile applications, particularly in populated areas, has become apparent.

How can different materials be combined so that large yet lightweight components and structures for rocket engines, ship engines and hydrogen tanks can be manufactured? A consortium of research institutes and industry is working on this question.

ENLIGHTEN

The aim of the ENLIGHTEN project is to combine expertise from the space industry, research institutes and start-ups in order to accelerate the development and introduction of technologies for reusable engines and bring them to a technology maturity level of six.
