CAESAR at the Space Tech Expo 2021
The Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics will be presenting the CAESAR (Compliant Assistance and Exploration SpAce Robot) system at the Space Tech Expo in Bremen from 16 to 18 November 2021.
Space Tech Expo is a leading event in Europe for all aspects of space technologies. In 2019, the Expo included more than 400 exhibitors and 5000 experts. In addition to the exhibition, a three-day conference will take place, which will cover topics such as investment, sustainability and space exploration.
The CAESAR and DEXHAND exhibits developed at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics will be on display in this context. CAESAR is a robot developed for exploration and assistance in space. It was developed for a variety of tasks in space, such as the assembly of structures, the maintenance and repair of satellites or the removal of space debris. The key to CAESAR's performance is its intelligent impedance- and position-controlled joints. The individual joints can be arranged variably depending on the mission requirements. The DEXHAND is a multi-fingered hand developed for on-orbit servicing in space and can be used as a tool for complex tasks due to its sensitivity and dexterity.
The two exhibits will be on show at Space Tech Expo 2021 at DLR stand J28.
