Award for Daniel Leidner
For his outstanding achievements in technical research and development, RM employee Daniel Leidner was honoured by the Foundation Werner-von-Siemens-Ring.
Daniel Leidner's research at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics focuses on AI-supported telerobotics, care assistance and, as a current topic, pandemic control. His main goal is for robots to not just be tools operated by humans, but to work together with humans in a collegial manner. This goal is also being pursued in the group for fault-tolerant autonomy architectures, which Daniel Leidner heads, as well as in his junior research group FUTURO.
Every two years, the Council of the Werner von Siemens Ring Foundation selects young people from the world of science as part of its promotion of young researchers, who can be nominated by 38 individuals and organisations. To date, 137 young researchers have been honoured for their achievements in technology and science and included in the foundation's network.
The award was presented on 20 June 2022 in Göttingen.
This year's young scientists are:
- Prof. Dr Reinhard Heckel, Technical University of Munich
- Prof. Dr Olga Kasian, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin
- Dr Steven A. King, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt
- Dr Daniel Leidner, German Aerospace Centre
