Co-operation event on science communication

Jointly with the Academy for Political Education in Tutzing, the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics is organising a conference on "Science for a Broad Audience – Streaming, Podcast, Social Media" from 19 – 21 May 2022 in Tutzing.

The collaborative event will look at the fundamentals of science communication using examples from robotics, space research, polar and marine research and cybernetics. Their complexity requires strategies; not everything that is relevant within research is crucial for recipients to understand. This is why the focus is on the communication strategy and ultimately different communication channels need to be used differently. What works in the areas of streaming, podcasts and social media and why? These will be the other topics, as well as practising science communication in practical modules. Where complex research is difficult to grasp, communication techniques are needed.

In a 'marketplace of ideas', participants can exchange ideas with scientists from the institute and apply the techniques they have learnt in practice. The following projects of the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics will present themselves:

The conference is aimed at active and prospective science communicators and researchers. In some cases, interested parties with previous knowledge or a very strong interest in the topic can also take part. We look forward to immersing ourselves in this complex research with you at Lake Starnberg and finding ways to communicate.

The conference programme can be found online on the homepage of the Academy for Political Education.
