[3D] The Robotics and Mechatronics Centre at DLR
The Robotics and Mechatronics Centre (RMC) is a cluster consisting of the Institutes of Robotics and Mechatronics as well as
Mechatronics and System Dynamics and Control in Oberpfaffenhofen and the Institute of Optical Sensor Systems in Berlin. It is the DLR competence centre for research and technology in the fields of robotics, mechatronics, system dynamics and optical sensor systems.
The centre's broad technical basis is mechatronics. As a key technology of our industrialised society, it means the highest possible integration of mechanics, optics, electronics and computer science (software) to create intelligent components through to autonomous robotic systems.
Accordingly, the work of the RMC focusses on interdisciplinary designs and realistic simulations.
In addition, the realisation of complex mechatro
systems and human-machine interfaces as well as their control and intelligent programming are also key components of the research.
components of the research.
The application of the technologies and systems developed in the cluster is primarily focussed on programmatic tasks in the research areas of space robotics, aviation and transport. The technologies developed also have direct effects and applications in other socially relevant areas such as medical technology, the factory of the future and personal robotic assistance. Technology transfer is therefore a key objective of the RMC.
