Video: Human-Robot Collaboration: Efficient Collaborative Assembly in an Industrial Scenario
Cooperation between humans and robots, as well as safe coexistence, are an important research focus in the Factory of the Future at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics. As the intelligence of robotic systems will not be sufficiently mature in the near future to carry out all applications autonomously, the flexibility and versatility of humans must be utilised. An important component of human-robot collaboration (HRC) is the development of intelligent assistance options.
This video shows the assembly of an automotive component with the support of a collaborative robot. The advantage of human-robot collaboration is, on the one hand, quality assurance. The human gets the right component at the right time according to the assembly plan. In addition, the human no longer has to search for the component in a multitude of memories and can concentrate on the essentials, the assembly. On the other hand, an ergonomically correct position of the worker can be made possible and long-term health consequences caused by repeated unfavourable movements can be reduced. Finally, cooperation between humans and robots can lead to an enormous improvement in terms of efficiency and quality in assembly, which is being researched as part of the Factory of the Future - Intelligent Robotics in Digitalised Production.
The collaboration of humans and robots, as well as a safe coexistence, are an important research topic in the Factory of the Future of the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics. Since robot-intelligence will not be sufficiently enough in the near future to execute all possible applications autonomously, the flexibility and diversity of humans has to take place in Factories of the near Future. An important component of human-robot collaboration (HRC) is the development of intelligent assistance of cobots.
This video shows the assembly of an automotive component with the support of a collaborative robot. The advantage of the cooperation between human and robot is on the one hand the quality assurance. The human gets the right component at the right time according to the assembly plan. In addition, the human being no longer has to search for the component in a large number of shelfs and storages and can concentrate on the essentials, the assembly. On the other hand, an ergonomically correct position of the worker can be achieved, and long-term health consequences can be reduced by repeated unfavourable movements. After all, cooperation between humans and robots can produce an enormous improvement in terms of efficiency and quality in assembly, which is a part of the research in our Factory of the Future - Intelligent Robots in Digitised Production.
