EO4CAM Project Meeting: Status and Outlook for 2026
On November 20, experts from DLR and the University of Würzburg met to discuss the current status of EO4CAM and to define the next milestones of the project. A key topic was the EO4CAM data portal, which will be launched in spring 2026. In the coming years, the portal will provide data and information relevant to forestry, agriculture, and urban environments, as well as cross-cutting themes including health, biodiversity, and geohazards. The satellite data and derived products will to support Bavarian authorities, municipalities, and communities in developing climate adaptation measures.

To ensure this, feedback from future users was collected through thematic workshops and individual consultations. These insights are being incorporated directly into the portal’s development. This approach will ensure that the data is intuitive to access and aligned with administrative needs. During the meeting, developers presented their current progress. Their goals include creating a clear thematic structure, ensuring optimal usability within the portal, and enabling seamless integration of the provided data into existing governmental geoinformation infrastructures.
Teams responsible for the thematic work packages presented their methods and datasets in the areas of biodiversity, agriculture, forestry, geohazards, health, and urban environments. Initial results are already being tested in pilot regions and will be progressively expanded so that they can be used by authorities in planning and decision-making processes.
Participants also discussed organizational and strategic topics, such as contributions for professional events and communication with municipal and technical user groups. In addition, long-term perspectives for EO4CAM services and potential partnerships with companies were explored.
In the next project phase, further pilot applications will be implemented and the data portal will be continuously enriched. Once launched, efforts will also focus on encouraging the use of EO4CAM data across public authorities.
EO4CAM provides a reliable and practice-oriented data foundation to support climate adaptation measures across Bavaria.
