Analysis and development of measures to increase the resilience of the power supply against natural hazards.
Disasters pose enormous challenges for civil protection and emergency management. In such situations, communication channels are often interrupted, current situational information is lacking, and critical infrastructure is at risk. The rapid supply and evacuation of people, as well as the protection of vital facilities, require innovative and resilient solutions. At the same time, emergency responders themselves are hampered by the circumstances and cannot rely on the mobility and communication options available under normal conditions.
The goal of the RESITEK project (Resilient Technologies for Disaster Protection) is to bundle the expertise and technologies of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) from the fields of aeronautics, space, energy, transport and security. The focus is on developing a modular, continuously expandable data and visualization platform that enables continuous situational monitoring and, in the event of a disaster, supports user-oriented, deployment-optimized situational awareness, mission planning and execution. This is intended to enable public safety and emergency services to act more quickly and efficiently and to protect the population as effectively as possible.
The challenges are manifold: a wide variety of data sources and deployment resources -- from drones to manned and unmanned vehicles to satellite data -- must be coordinated and technically integrated. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the resilience of power grids, ensure mobility in special situations, and enable secure communication even when infrastructure is destroyed. RESITEK therefore pursues a scenario- and user-open approach in order to create an integrated system that can respond flexibly to various disaster situations.
