Acquisition technology is a key component of many DLR projects and plays a central role in the research and development of transport system technology. Our expertise covers a wide range of acquisition technologies that are used to collect and analyse precise data and information in a wide variety of application areas.

Through innovative sensor technologies and advanced measurement methods, we enable the precise acquisition of data in the areas of road and rail as well as transport systems.

Test Bed Lower Saxony – acquisition technology

The holistic assessment of traffic situations and the development of new driver assistance and automation systems are the focal points of the Lower Saxony test centre. We realise this with camera-based aquisition.

‘Research Intersection’ – a hub for data collection in the field

Right at the centre of urban traffic. We use our Braunschweig research junction to collect unique data for the future of autonomous driving. Up to 40,000 road users pass through this junction every day. The focus here is on analysing how they interact with each other, such as when turning right with cyclists crossing.

Mobile measurement stations

DLR uses mobile measuring stations with high-precision sensors to record motorised and non-motorised road users at different locations. The technology can be used flexibly within the Lower Saxony test area as well as at project-specific locations and provides important findings for testing driver assistance and traffic management procedures.
